Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs, at Virginia Commonwealth University, invites applications for a Senior Research Associate. This position is responsible for examining public issues and social problems through applied research and evaluation techniques to broaden and improve public discourse and decision making.

SERL serves the research and evaluation needs of federal, state, and local government, universities, and organizations in the non-profit and private sectors by providing a diverse range of research activities including polls, specialized survey research projects, evaluation studies, and community-based capacity development programs. SERL also provides data management services, including set-up and design of long-term data collection systems, technical expertise in multi-site data collection, and training for data collection entities.

The Senior Research Associate is a 12-month collateral faculty position and it reports to the Director of the SERL. The Senior Research Associate will be responsible for: (1) proactively establishing research relationships with clients within and outside the university; (2) independently designing complex telephone, mail, and on-line and in-person survey projects; (3) coordinating the efforts of other technical specialists within SERL to execute these projects: (4) analyzing data gathered as part of these projects using univariate, bivariate, and multivariate statistical techniques; (5) developing written summary reports and oral presentations detailing project results and recommendations for delivery to research clients; (6) exercising guidelines; (7) serving on the SERL management team and working with the SERL Director on process and policy enhancements and initiatives; (9) making presentations at professional conferences and publishing in academic and professional journals.

Qualifications:
