DC-AAPOR... A CAPITAL MEETING PLACE!
DC-AAPOR is the local chapter of the
American Association for Public Opinion Research (AAPOR).
An active, intellectual community of researchers, academics, and other professionals
engaged in the methods, applications, and findings of public opinion research and survey methodology, DC-AAPOR
provides an exciting forum for discussion and debate about
methodological, ethical, and substantive issues related to a range of research topics.
DC-AAPOR hosts a number of seminars and "brown bags" during the year, often in conjunction with
the Washington Statistical Society. For more information about scheduled events or membership,

Updates and Announcements from DC-AAPOR
- May 29 through June 16, 2008 - DC-AAPOR will be holding its annual election in order to select 2009 Council members. If you did
not receive a ballot and feel that you should have please contact Chapter Secretary Timothy Triplett.

- March 3, 2008 - Registration has opened for the American Association for Public Opinion Research Annual Conference (May 15-18) at the Sheraton New Orleans!
- February 4, 2008 - DC-AAPOR is pleased to announce the winner of the 2007 Student Paper Competition, sponsored by SRBI.
Carl Gershenson (University of Chicago) is recognized for the outstanding quality of his paper "The Scientific American: A Casualty of the Culture Wars?."
- December 27, 2007 - The report from the 2007 DC-AAPOR Workshop on Nonresponse Bias in Household Surveys is now available. The report contains a full transcript as well as summaries of each presentation.
- December 12, 2007 - DC-AAPOR announces its 2007 Honor Roll of individuals and sponsor organizations who generously volunteered their time, space, and funding to help to make 2007 a great success.
- December 11, 2007 - DC-AAPOR is pleased to announce that Helen Crossley has been selected as the recipient of the inaugural DC-AAPOR Outstanding Achievement Award. Ms. Crossley was chosen in recognition of her many contributions to the survey research profession, and for her outstanding service locally, nationally, and internationally to the broader research community. Her legacy in the profession truly reflects the ideals and values that the DC-AAPOR chapter holds in the highest regard.
